Description

The DRMAA Version 2 C language binding was published in November 2012 as GFD-R-P.198.

DRMAA2 is now fully adopted in Univa GridEngine. This industry-grade implementation showed some issues with the C binding specification. Furthermore, a large set of clarifications needed to be done in the document text. Given the necessary changes, we created the attached updated version of the spec.

Please check the annex chapter of the attached file for a list of changes. We leave it to the GFSG if these changes demand a new GFD number, or if they can be treated as errata publication.

Thanks for this submission. Based on the extent of changes, I believe it is most appropriate to proceed with a new GFD # that will obsolete the older one. I will bring this to the Standards Council for confirmation of this, and to proceed with the next steps towards public comment and eventual publication. It's great to see that this has been adopted by industry, and that real-world experiences have helped to inform the changes. Greg

Dear authors/editors: apologies for the delay with this. I am re-raising my suggestion with the standards council.

Per the Standards Council telecon December 8, we will proceed with a new GFD #, obsoleting the older versions. The AD will check that these submissions are ready for public comment.

I checked the document and it is almost ready for the public phase.

Things to do:
- The document needs a new GFD number that should be sent to the authors to replace the current 198
- The authors should update the date of the copyright statements on page 1 and 18
- The should an "Obsoletes" paragraph: This document obsoletes GFD-R-P.198 (and probably add a reference to
GFD-R-P.198

Can you please send me the new GFD number for this document

  • Status changed from AD review to author action

Same situation as #295: The doc # should be marked as "TBD" or similar, for now. This has not yet gone to public comment, so usually we wait until the document is closer to final publication to assign a new number.

The other changes mentioned in the tracker are similarly minor. This should be ready for public comment, as soon as any immediately forthcoming changes are made. Let me know, and we will put it in a public comment tracker, and announce
it.

Thanks,
Greg

Prior to publication, Wolfgang will check with the group in case there are other errata that should be considered. This is due to the long delay between submission and publication.

The group considers the documents ready for publication, no further changes needed.

Peter, others: Please generate the final version as PDF, with the GFD #230. Once that is uploaded, along with the document source (.tgz or similar), I will put this in the published documents area at www.ogf.org and announce publicly. Thanks... Greg

Published! Apologies for the delay. I left the date as November 21 at ogf.org, since these languished before I uploaded and announced them. Thanks to authors/editors for your work on these important updates to the DRMAA series.
